Kina Grannis

In 2007, Kina wrote “Message From Your Heart,” filmed a video and uploaded it to YouTube. A few months later, her song and video earned her a major label recording contract and aired during the Super Bowl in front of its 97 million viewers. Kina soon forfeited the record deal, choosing instead to self-release her album and keep creative control. Her debut album – Stairwells – debuted on Billboard’s Top 200 chart (and #2 on its new artist chart) due in large part to her devoted online following. Kina’s sophomore album – Elements – written entirely by Kina and produced by Matt Hales (Aqualung), was released in May 2014, and debuted in the Top 50 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart (and top 5 on its Folk Chart). Elements marks an undeniable maturity in songwriting and artistry and documents a period of growth and change in Kina’s personal life, complete with an honesty and a vulnerability that she’s excited to share with the universe. Kina’s music is dark and driving, sweet and soaring, melancholy, humble, heartfelt and hopeful.

To date, Kina has amassed more than 150 million video views, with nearly 1 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, thanks to unforgettable videos for her original music, including “Valentine” and “In Your Arms” and unforgettable covers, including her version of “Royals,” which earned her a feature on the 2014 Grammy Awards.

Kina’s mesmerizingly delicious stop-motion music video for her original song “In Your Arms” (made with more than a milion Jelly Belly jelly beans over 22 months) has approached 11 milion views and was one of TIME Magazine’s 10 Most Creative Videos of 2011, leading to performances on Ellen & Jimmy Kimmel Live and securing the coveted iTunes Video of the Week feature.

Kina has collaborated with brands ranging from Doritos to Coca-Cola, Jelly Belly to AT&T, Lucky Brand to JC Penny. Her music has appeared on commercials for Disney Parks, on television shows around the world and in Starbucks coffee shops across the country.

While Kina’s career thrives thanks to its online presence, Kina has and continues to tour consistently and successfully. Her live performances take her around the globe, playing her original songs, headlining – and selling out – venues from Los Angeles to New York, London to Amsterdam, Toyko to Sydney. Her most recent North American dates in support of Elements sold out well in advance.
