Bedell Guitars introduces new quartet of high performance cutaway dreadnoughts
The Spotlight Series pairs Adirondack spruce with Brazilian and East Indian rosewood, Hawaiian koa and cocobolo
New for 2020, Bedell Guitars introduces The Spotlight Series of limited edition, high performance dreadnoughts aimed at working musicians searching for modern, stage ready instruments with vintage tone. View models here.
Founder and namesake Tom Bedell compares the four cutaway Adirondack spruce topped dreadnoughts to finely tuned racing vehicles.
“Any car will get you where you want to go,” he chuckles. “But a professional needs a a machine that can fly right from the start, that can corner at speed and that can react immediately to the driver’s whims. These guitars do just that. They put the spotlight on the player.”
Across the series, contemporary cutaways allow access to every fret on sleek, semi-gloss Honduran mahogany necks, boasting the comfortable 1 & ¾” inch bone nuts preferred by today’s skilled players. L.R. Baggs Anthem systems provide perfect acoustic sound in concert or club settings, and offer audiophile versatility in the studio.
Also throughout the limited edition full gloss line, high-grade Adirondack tops, from salvaged and individually harvested trees, are matched with stunning exotic hardwoods selected from the singular Bedell tonewood library, creating instruments of uncommon beauty and clarity.
The elite quartet includes light, responsive models in unique Brazilian rosewood, figured Hawaiian koa, cocobolo and figured East Indian rosewood, with MAP pricing (including deluxe hard shell case) from $3,990–$5,790.
Featuring ebony bridges, fingerboards and headstock veneers, each instrument boasts the finest Bedell appointments, including Adirondack spruce braces, brass inlays, tortoise binding and pickguard and nickel Waverly tuners.
Each Sound Optimized, master crafted limited edition Spotlight is handmade and hand-voiced in Bend, Oregon. All tonewoods are individually milled, weighed, tuned and deflection-tested to reveal full sonic potential. The L. R. Baggs Anthem joins TRU-MIC technology with the venerated Element film sensor pickup. With soundhole-mounted volume, phase and blend controls, the Bedell Spotlight series is a lifetime investment for the serious performer.
“Put yourself in the spotlight,” says Bedell.
