Campfire Series – Great Divide

January 24th, 2011

“After hunting high and low for my next guitar, I came across a Campfire Series Dreadnought (SSD-V) at my local music shop in Scranton, PA. It was brilliant, so now it’s mine. Intuitive action, soilid intunation, and excellent playability. It’s well put together piece. The buzz I have heard about your guitars is right on. I think this is the beginning of something very special. I am going to enjoy this guitar for many years to come. Best of luck and all success with the line. Cheers!”

“The Bedells and the Great Divide instruments smoke anything out there by far and the people behind them are “old school” class and character, just fantastic”

Songsmith

December 14th, 2010

Hi!  I just wanted to send you a quick note and let you know that we recently purchased one of your guitars for my son – he is 12 (but has been playing guitar since he was 6 so this is not a purchase that will be sitting collecting dust in a closet or basement somewhere).  Anyway, we purchased it from American Musical Supply, received it a few days later and my husband cannot be more pleased with our purchase.  He has had and played many guitars over the years and he said this plays beautifully! He said that it even plays and sounds better than the old —– 12 string that he used to have!!  We purchased model #SDCE-18-VS.  (Yes, I have already sent in for the Fishman Amp – can’t wait for that either!!) Thanks again!!

Bedell OH-12-G

December 11th, 2010

I’m writing to compliment Bedell Guitars on their instruments and their overall brand.

I currently own a ——– and a ——–. This past weekend at one of your dealers (Chicago Music Exchange) I had my first hands-on experience with Bedell Guitars. I had the privilege of playing a Bedell OH-12-G. It is a beautiful and comfortable instrument with a wonderfully balanced tone. When I can afford to buy my next guitar, it will most definitely be the Bedell OH-12-G.

Great Divide Songsmith

“WOWOWOWOW!!! I don’t know what to say except a tremendous thank you! The guitar you picked out and sent to me is absolutely gorgeous!! The flamed Sapele on the neck and the top…wow what a top! It is very beautiful with all the grains showing throughout the top and playability and tone! I stayed up until 1am playing away last night and got up at 3:45 to get ready for work, but loaded with energy thinking about a beautiful guitar waiting for me at home!! Thank you, and I will do some recordings of me playing the Songsmith and send them to you! Who knows, you might want to use me as an endorse or clinician! From one old hippie to two others!! Blessings and peace to you all this fine day!

Jeff

P.S. the flames on the neck are really cool when I’m playing, to see that amazing “zebra-like”  striping while playing is very warm and inviting, let alone absolutely gorgeous! Thanks!!!”

Bedell TB 28 Testimonial and Question

December 3rd, 2010

Hi – I just bought a TB 28 GS from Schmitt Music in Burnsville about two weeks ago – it is a beauty and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it.  I played my Schmitt Crafter from South Korea next to it for about an hour before I purchased it – went back and forth between the two instruments.  I still think the bass is clearer and more distinct on the Crafter – but I love the sweet and bright sound from the Bedell – I’m wondering if the age of the guitars have anything to do with that difference?  Will the Bedell woods age and “mellow” as they get older – will they produce a “richer” sound as they get older?  I love the Bedell – it is the finest guitar I have ever played – thank you so much for making it and is it true you only made 25 of these models??  Thanks again.

Response from Dan Mills – Bedell Guitar Design Team:

Thank you for your purchase of a Bedell Guitar-
Being all solid wood the tone of your TB-28-GS will improve with age. As the wood seasons the guitar’s clarity will increase along with a slight increase in volume. In the 3-5 year range the bass with become more pronounced and the notes will come out of the guitar a little easier. This is enhanced by accumulated playing time, so give the instrument lots of exercise. Enjoy!

JB-52-G Testimonial

December 3rd, 2010

Hi Sharon,

After talking to a few of your deallers and getting your fast reply I desided to just go ahead and order a JB-52-G online at American Musical Supply.
Wow possibly the best purchase of my life, I love this Guitar at any price but $1500.00 is a steel.
My girlfriend is in florida for a few weeks so she has no clue I bought a guitar but more importantly is that she wasn’t around to see me giggling like a little school girl when I opened the case and first saw and held this guitar. By the way, great service from A.M.S. as well, from order to my door in less than 30hr’s.

Thanks,
Doug

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa — Less than two years after his ”retirement” as CEO at Pure Fishing, Tom Bedell is back in business — with a music business not unlike the one he started when he was a teenager. And, not unlike anything else the 59-year-old Bedell has done, he’s passionate about the effort.

The new enterprise, Two Old Hippies, began when a small guitar store, Great Divide Music, came up for sale earlier this year in Aspen, Colo. where Bedell and his wife, Molly, have a second home.

When Tom heard about the offering he didn’t hesitate in suggesting to his wife, ”Let’s do it!” Six months later they are already expanding the business.

As Molly explains, ”We scooped it up, brought it back to life and filled it with everything we love.”
